Fiber Sizing Agents
Improve the interfacial bonding between fibers and matrix resins and enhance the mechanical properties of composite materials.
Fiber Sizing Agent Quick Selection Guide
Quick Selection Guide for Fiber Sizing Agents
This table is intended for preliminary selection of waterborne fiber sizing agents for different resin types. The final model should be determined in combination with the fiber type, matrix resin, continuous or short-cut process, and requirements for bundling, softness and interfacial bonding.
| Model | Resin Type | Solid Content | Applicable Matrix | Quick Selection Note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| HY-503 | Polyester type | 38% | PA, PE | Cost-effective type, focusing on improving fiber bundling and adhesion to the matrix |
| HY-509 | Polyurethane type | 40% | PA, PE, PU, PC | General-purpose product with a wide range of compatible matrices, focusing on improving tensile properties |
| HY-510 | Polyurethane type | 35% | PA, PE, PU, PC | General-purpose soft type; feel and film-forming performance are relatively softer than HY-509 |
| HY-512 | Epoxy resin type | 35% | PA, PPS, PC | High-temperature-resistant specialty type, suitable for high-end components, continuous fibers and short-cut fiber systems |
| HY-518 | Polypropylene type | 30% | PP, PE | Special type for polypropylene matrices, used to enhance the interfacial strength and mechanical properties between fibers and the PP matrix |
Abbreviations:PA is polyamide, PE is polyethylene, PU is polyurethane, PC is polycarbonate, PPS is polyphenylene sulfide, PP is polypropylene, and PEEK is polyether ether ketone.
Quick Selection Tips
Focus on economy, bundling and matrix adhesion
HY-503
Compatible with multiple matrices and focuses on tensile properties
HY-509
Need a relatively soft sizing film and good processability
HY-510
PA, PPS or PC high-temperature composite systems
HY-512
Fiber-reinforced polypropylene materials
HY-518
Note:Before actual use, small-scale trial validation is recommended based on fiber type, matrix resin, sizing process, target sizing pick-up and subsequent molding temperature.
